A spanish language podcast to support the Hispanic community

Welcome to Nuestra Mano Amiga! 
A Spanish language podcast with a mission to provide the hispanic community in the United States, with the knowledge and support needed to overcome daily challenges and thrive.  

Many Hispanics in the U.S. encounter language barriers that make it difficult to fully understand and navigate the complexity of how various social services work and other fundamental aspects of daily life, that are essential to their well-being.  By offering content in Spanish, we aim to bridge that gap, ensuring that everyone has access to the tools and resources they need to succeed.

We aim to strengthen community ties while fostering personal and family growth.

I served as a C-level corporate executive in multinational consumer goods and direct sales companies, for over 30 years.   During my career, I had the privilege of contributing to the personal, professional and economic development of Hispanic women.  

After taking early retirement, I decided to dedicate my free time to volunteer work, using my experience to give back to the community.

During the volunteer work that I do, I met a person who had been living and working in the United States for almost 30 years. She was over 65 years old, but unfortunately did not speak fluent English. Despite being a legal resident, she received less than $200 per month from Social Security. This was a huge surprise to me as she worked for almost three decades.

I decided to do a little research on the benefits available for seniors and low-income persons and found some interesting information.

As a result, I accompanied her to the Social Security office, where we presented her situation to the representative. After she was asked several questions, she was told that she qualified for the Supplemental Security Income (SSI), a benefit she did not know about. The extra income she received changed her life.  It gave me great pleasure to be able to assist her.  

I realized that there are many more people like her who could benefit from receiving information in Spanish on topics that impact their daily life.
